I did leave disappointed with the new scaling action skill buffs, however. Grenades feel better and donвЂ™t tickle enemies as much, though they may still need some work. ThereвЂ™s a new Guardian Rank skill that increases your melee damage to 25% of the recent damage youвЂ™ve dealt, and it can be very substantial. I did not have an issue with Mayhem 10 at level 60 and I think for any hardcore player that is the вЂњcorrectвЂќ difficulty to play at. A very small handful of level 57s still feel acceptable at level 60, like your double damage Monarchs and such, but obviously youвЂ™re still going to want toвЂ¦farm a level 60 one with higher damage and the same roll. This has raised the level cap to 60, and I think I speak for most players when I say that three extra skill points to throw somewhere is not worth invalidating all the level 57 gear you have, including some you literally cannot get anymore like the Cartel weapons.

Playing Bounty of Blood is not just reviewing DLC, but also the patch that came with the DLC. IвЂ™ll probably have a separate article about it later. I can kill the final boss of Bounty of Blood in about eight seconds with it, and with any even moderately good anointment, itвЂ™s just a terror. But there is one sniper, the Maliwan Complex Root, that is so good itвЂ™s broken, and it rendered every Mayhem 10 boss encounter in the DLC kind of pointless. Others, like a COV acid-spewer or a Torgue exploding round AR, are very obviously strong. Some of them I simply donвЂ™t understand what they do and they seem terrible. There are a lot of guns here, though sadly no new artifacts or class mods, and I donвЂ™t even think I saw a new shield or grenade either. HowвЂ™s the loot? That may be the most important question that every Borderlands fans wants to know, and the answer is that it ranges from garbage to completely overpowered and probably going to be imminently nerfed. While a few of the areas in the DLC are kind of bland, I really loved an early elaborate bathhouse zone, and IвЂ™ll say generally that the boss fights in this DLC are creative and well-executed, along with the new enemy types like dino-ridding baddies and these weird stick-legged forest deer aliens that are well-designed.

And naturally at some point there are a few different giant monsters involved.

The story is a little hard to explain without getting into spoilers, as thereвЂ™s a big turn early, but the long and short of it is that there is a gang called the Devil Raiders that terrorizes a local town, you come in and hunt down their leader.

And I do think characters like Moxxi, Timothy Lawrence, Hammerlock, Jakobs, Gaige and Claptrap did add value to the last two DLCs, and the absence of any familiar faces is a bit jarring here. But I know the Borderlands crowd and they are indeed going to be pretty antsy that they donвЂ™t recognize any NPCs for the entire duration of this DLC. Rose is probably the best new character added to the game since BALEX (sheвЂ™s not funny, just kind of badass), and IвЂ™d like to see more of her in the future.
